Working at Happy Haven OSHC

Here at Happy Haven OSHC we value our educators as our most valuable asset in providing quality care for our children. We can provide flexible work arrangements around outside commitments such as family, study and sport, as well as career advancement opportunities in a number of different areas.

We provide training and development to ensure you are confident and comfortable in carrying out your duties whilst at work – and will pay you for your time to attend in the majority of cases!

We love our team to be active contributors to our program, and give them the power to influence their workplace. Our services are open to fresh ideas from passionate and enthusiastic educators like you!

Working for Happy Haven OSHC will aid your development in a number of areas such as implementing a fun and engaging educational program, guiding children’s behaviour, managing groups, leading other team members and running excursions.

Applying for CSE 1.1 positions are ‘entry level’ with no formal educational qualifications required, however CSE 4.1 positions and above do require minimum qualifications to be held. Any position at OSHC will require specific training and clearances to be obtained.

Career Requirements

Everyone working in OSHC on a Department of Education and Child Development site is required to at least have a Department of Communities and Social Inclusion Child Related Screening Form and Responding to Abuse and Neglect training. Please note that other forms of Police Checks are NOT accepted (this is different on non-DECD sites).

You can download a copy of the DCSI form here, or go to their website for more information at http://www.dcsi.sa.gov.au/services/screening.

Responding to Abuse and Neglect training can be done through a number of agencies, but again – be careful to ensure you get training that is approved for the type of site you will be working at! DECD have approved training organisations who you must complete your training with to be able to work on their sites.

If you are applying for a job as a CSE 3.1 or above, you must also appropriate First Aid and CPR training. We would recommend booking a first aid course with course code HLTAID004, as this covers your requirements for first aid, CPR, and emergency asthma & anaphylaxis training.

Happy Haven OSHC educators working at CSE 3.1 or above will also be required to obtain Emergency Asthma First Aid training, Emergency Anaphylaxis First Aid training, and Medication Management training.

Before booking any training, check it against ACECQA’s approved qualifications list to ensure you aren’t wasting time and money on training that can’t be used in OSHC. Just use the ‘Qualification Level’ field to limit your search and check the ‘Course Code’ against that of the training you are investigating. This will also include information about the qualification required to work as a CSE 3.1 or above.
